Shedding the Skin of Trauma

Shedding the Skin of Trauma

There's immense grieving in what should have been
Some things should never have happened
Healing takes your own length of time

Inside ourselves, we are grappling with immense grief for what should have been—a life filled with joy, laughter, and happy moments - that now feels like a distant dream. Each day becomes a reminder of what is left behind, echoing the pains of lost opportunities, unachieved goals, and unfulfilled hopes.

And then some things, in their sheer weight and gravity, should never have happened in the first place. These are events that upend our sense of normalcy and leave us questioning the very fabric of our lives. These painful moments serve as stark reminders of our vulnerability. They linger in our minds, refusing to let go, challenging us to seek understanding and, ultimately, closure in a world where some questions remain unanswered or where the answers aren't good enough.

Healing is a deeply personal journey that unfolds at its own pace, guided by the unique rhythms of our lives. It takes time, often longer than we want it to, requiring us to reluctantly confront our emotions and memories and sort through the remnants of experiences that brought us joy and sorrow. I like to think of this healing process as shedding skin, like a snake. Healing is a process we all must go through.
